Thanks to Neil in the Northampton Record Office for sending over these photos of parts of the village taken for a photographic competition in 1938.
The legendary Joan Wake, who founded the Northamptonshire Record Society, launched a photographic competition in 1938 to record images of the county. This series of images was taken by Yardley Gobion resident H. de Blois Leach. He appears to have been a disinfectant manufacturer according to his entry in in the 1936 Kelly's Directory. A quick internet search also reveals that he (or his relatives) manufactured photographic slides.
The photographs are mainly of cottages in Blackwell End, with another of the A5 entitled 'Condemned cottages on the Watling Street, Potterspury'.
