The Old Vicarage is a 17th century thatched property that sits in the dip of Church End opposite St Nicholas Church. A beautiful building, it housed the vicars of Potterspury from the time of its construction until 1866, when the vicar moved up the road, possibly to escape flooding from the village brook.

Probably its most famous inhabitant was the Reverend John Hellins, a mathematician who conducted many experiments and mathematical calculations in the grounds. In 1808 he produced 'The Valuation of the Living of Potterspury', a valuation of the property, which included an orchard and half an acre of land. He estimated that it was worth £63 6s. 7d.
